Michigan Chamber joins national coalition to advance workforce and immigration solutions
What's happening: The Michigan Chamber has joined the newly launched American Alliance for Workforce and Border Security, a national coalition led by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to advocate for practical immigration reforms that strengthen America's workforce and economy. The Michigan Chamber was recognized as a founding member in the coalition's kick off.
Why it matters: Michigan employers continue to face workforce shortages that make it harder to grow, compete and invest. Modernizing legal immigration pathways is an important part of meeting workforce needs while supporting a secure and orderly immigration system.
What we're saying:
“When Michigan's economy grows, our collective opportunities and communities grow too. A strong talent pipeline is essential to powering that growth while driving innovation and investment. Modernizing our legal immigration system is a critical part of that effort and addressing our state’s ongoing workforce shortages,” said Jim Holcomb, MI Chamber president & CEO. “That’s why we are proud to join this broad coalition calling on Congress to advance practical reforms that provide a legal pathway for immigrants who want to pursue the American dream while strengthening our economy and helping keep Michigan and America competitive.”
Bottom line: The Michigan Chamber will continue working with business leaders nationwide to advance commonsense, bipartisan workforce policies that help employers succeed.
