Tips for a Successful Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Opening a new business or unveiling a remodeling or an expansion of an existing business is an exciting time – one that should be shared with others. Who better to share your excitement with than fellow Chamber members? A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will help you do just that. Of course you’ll want your event to be successful, so to that end the Ambassador Team offers the following tips:

Before the event

  • Mail personal invitations to Hartland community leaders and business representatives (the HACC will provide the labels for a minimal $15)
  • Invite your clients, vendors or suppliers
  • Advertise and invite the public to your event (and, if possible, offer an incentive to attend)

During the event

  • Follow an open house style format for your event so that guests feel welcome to go and go as their schedule demands and to bring other guests without needing to call ahead
  • During your event, follow an agenda that includes opportunities to introduce staff and special guests as well as brief remarks about your business’ products and services<
  • Greet your guests at the door
  • Offer light refreshments
  • Do a drawing for a certificate to your business or other prize and select the winner from among your event attendees; having guests provide their business card to enter the drawing will help you build your mailing list, too.
  • Provide guests with product or service informational packets, notices of your upcoming events or sales, free samples or other gifts of value
